Pewits Nest – A (Formerly) Hidden Treasure

We took a trip to Pewits Nest near Baraboo.  It’s not as well known as some of the state’s natural areas, partly due to the fact it’s not easy to find without good directions or a navigation device in your vehicle.  We arrived, excited to see this special place.  We started out on the trail..

The canopy soon got thick and gave the day the look of dusk.

Soon, we emerged in view of a canyon cut by Skillet Creek.

My camera did not do this beautiful place justice.  The waterfall sounded so peaceful, the atmosphere was heavy with moisture and was so green with the new spring growth. The sun shone through a gap in the rocks, making this bright spot in the water.

We were on this ledge surrounded by trees and water-carved rock.

We also went down to water level to see the view there. This is looking towards the falls.
