My Favorite Tree on Atwood Ave. in Madison

Do you have a favorite tree?  I do. It’s in the Atwood neighborhood in Madison, behind Monty’s Blue Plate Diner.  What drew my attention to it was its brilliant fall colors. I then observed it the remaining 3 seasons. It’s stately and beautiful year round,  and I now have this tree in all 4 seasons.

The fall picture was taken two years ago on Sept. 28, not last year but in 2011.  Last summer’s drought damaged it and it wasn’t pretty last fall.  This is what is looked like on Sept. 26 last year.

Mirror Lake State Park – Fall 2012

On October 2nd, 2012 my husband and I went on our annual Fall Color Tour. In fact, I schedule a week of vacation the first week of October every fall just to take pictures of the colors.  This is Mirror Lake State Park.

We had not been here before for fall colors, and we were treated to QUITE an explosion of color. We went by the lake and sure enough, it was smooth as a mirror.

After that we walked Echo Rock Trail, a woodsy trail that went by the lake, and of course wound around Echo Rock.

Around on the other side of the rock we spotted Ishnala Supper Club.

It was a great day, Wisconsin is unequaled for a great fall color show.
