Can I clean my skateboard with water?
Do not use water to clean your board!
If you don’t it will be a lot harder to remove dust and dirt. If you have bubble gum stuck on your grip tape, use belt sander cleaner. Make sure you remove it as soon as possible.
Is it OK to wash your skateboard?
If you kept your wheels soaking for a while, the gunk should come off a little easier. That being said, you’ll probably have to keep adding dawn dish soap to particular spots but make sure after we get our wheels squeaky clean, it’s imperative you do your best to wash away any soapy residue.
Is it bad to skateboard on wet ground?
Skating in the rain or even just on damp ground can affect your bearings and reduce their efficiency. After a wet skate it’s important to clean your bearings to ensure no permanent damage is done.
What can I use instead of grip gum?
Rub at the grip tape like you would with a pencil eraser, then brush away the residue. Doing a thorough pass with grip gum will leave your board looking brand new. A rubber cement eraser from an art store is a cheap alternative.
Do skateboard wheels go bad?
Your board wheels start shaping after the way you take a turn, after a while, they get cone-shaped. It’s pretty common they wear down unevenly as you probably favor one side more than the other. You can swap your wheels around about every 2 or 3 months, depending on how often you ride your skateboard.
Is it OK to ride a penny board in the rain?
You shouldn’t even be riding in the rain with regular skateboards that have good grip tape. Pennyboards are small fun boards for those who like a challenge, but I do not recommend them for beginner and recreational skateboarders or just about anyone who doesn’t want a challenging experience riding.
