Madison’s First Residents -The Pecks

21 years before Wisconsin achieved statehood (1858), the first two settlers arrived to the pristine wilderness that became Madison.  They were Ebenezer and Rosaline Peck. The Peck Cabin was Madison’s first business, post office and business. The site is marked by a sign, it now stands on the grounds of the GEF III Government building.  Now,  Madison is over 250,000 residents.
